Nicolás Velasco Pérez
Hello everyone! My name is Nicolás (Nico) Velasco Pérez. I’m from Medellín, Colombia and I’m a senior. I am very excited about being part of SAB! On campus, I’m involved with Residence Life, the Running Club and the First Year Experience. Professionally, I am very interested in economic development, public policy and entrepreneurship. Mateja Bokan
Hi everyone! I’m Mateja and I am thrilled to be the SAB Chair this year! Besides SAB, I enjoy singing and playing the ukulele for my friends! When I’m not at DKU, you’re likely to find me in Shanghai Disneyland; I’m a huge fan of everything Disney! I also enjoy photography and drinking boba at a nearby park. I’m happy to get to know you and connect you to the DKU community!

Hello, I am Leah from Alumni Stories! I grew up in Durham, North Carolina, and am majoring in Environmental Science with a track in biogeochemistry. In my free time, I enjoy doing anything artistic (knitting, crochet, painting, drawing, making music, etc), walking, and spending time with people I care about.
Karen Wang
I’m a current senior from Toronto, Canada studying computer science. Some of my interests include accessible design, education, and gamification. Outside of school I like to dance, discover new music, and explore cafes!
Jiaqi Chen (Lesley)
Hi everyone! My name is Jiaqi Chen and I’m a student from class of 2028. I haven’t decided my major yet but I’m interested in Computation and Design with the track of public policy at the moment. I’m currently the member of Alumni stories now and I can’t wait to start a journey on the excellent alumni in DKU and Duke! Hope the stories we make can make a big difference to releasing stress and uncertainty in students’ life choices and make everyone’s life story shine!

Hi, I’m Chen from the Class of 2027. Currently, I’m working in the Alumni Stories team. I’m also the student coordinator at CSCC China and the Global South cluster. In terms of my hobby, I like street dance and I’m a member of the advanced team of the Street Dance Club. I hope I and my team will bring more attractive alumni stories for everyone in DKU!

Hi, my name is Cheems, and I’m currently majoring in Applied Mathematics. I’m passionate about exploring new places, reading thought-provoking books, swimming, and playing basketball. I look up to people like Steve Jobs and Michael Phelps for their dedication and ability to push boundaries in their respective fields. I believe that a regular, disciplined life is key to success. Being punctual and keeping commitments helps build trust, while a critical mindset allows you to better understand how the world operates. I’m excited to experience different cultures and make meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds.

Greetings! I’m Zihan Chen from Wuxi, Jiangsu province. As a second-year student, I’m lucky enough to survive these sessions.
