The Wilkinson Building, inaugurated in early 2021, is a state-of-the-art facility at Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering. Spanning 150,000 square feet over five levels, it significantly enhances the school's educational and research capabilities.

This year’s program will include brief remarks and Duke updates from Professor Ernesto Escobar, Executive Director of the Game Design, Development & Innovation Program, and Professor Steven Cummer, Ph.D., William J. Younger Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

About our Pratt School of Engineering representatives

Ernesto Escobar is the Executive Director of Duke’s Master of Engineering in Game Design, Development & Innovation, where he leads curriculum, admissions, industry engagement, and student mentorship. He teaches game design and development, works closely with industry partners, and is passionate about mentoring students and connecting learning with real-world impact. Ernesto is also the Founder & CEO of Fanaticus XR, with a background in innovation, entrepreneurship, and immersive technologies.

Steven Cummer, Ph.D. is the William H. Younger Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University and serves as Associate Chair. His research focuses on electromagnetics, metamaterials, wave propagation, and atmospheric remote sensing, spanning both theoretical and experimental work. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and of the American Geophysical Union. He has received multiple honors for his contributions to electromagnetic theory and applications.
